In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Confirmation is celebrated in the 10th Grade or older. At St. Brendan’s students can begin preparing for Confirmation as early as 7th grade by completing two consecutive years of faith formation. Once the child has completed or is in their second consecutive year of faith formation then they are eligible to be registered for our Confirmation Sacramental preparation program in 10th grade or older.

Guide for Confirmation Preparation:
Your family must be registered parishioners of St. Brendan’s and attend Sunday Mass.
Your child must complete two consecutive years of Catholic Faith Formation
Either through attending private Catholic school as early as 9th grade or St. Brendan’s Youth Faith Formation programs as early as 7th grade
Children attending St. Brendan’s Youth Faith Formation may not miss more than 3 faith formation nights in a year.
Children attending a private Catholic school will need to request and provide a letter verifying their enrollment and good standing in their two consecutive years of religious education at their school.
Register your teen online, for Confirmation in 10th grade or older, to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The separate fee for Confirmation covers the cost of their overnight Confirmation retreat in advance
Attend the 2025 Parent/Child Confirmation Workshop on Sept 6th (mandatory):
Last Name A-K from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Last Name L-Z from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Complete 3 service credits (between their 9th and 10th grade year) by May 29, 2026.

Attend an overnight Confirmation specific retreat during the year they will be Confirmed.
St. Brendan’s Confirmation Retreat Options at North Georgia Christian Camp are Dec. 5-7, 2025 and Jan. 16-18, 2026.
During the Retreat, the Confirmation candidate will complete an Adoration Reflection as well as a Written Letter of intent to the Pastor.
Complete all necessary steps and turn in physically by the following deadlines:
An emailed or physical copy of your child’s baptismal certificate by October 31st
The Sponsor/Saint Form by January 30th
Attend the Confirmation Mass Rehearsal - TBD
10 AM Mass Rehearsal is at 5:00-6:00pm in the Church
2PM Mass Rehearsal is at 6:45-7:45pm in the Church
Attend the Confirmation Celebration Mass- TBD

FAQs
My child will be in 7th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. When do I sign up?
Register for 7th grade WayPoint this year, and 8th Grade WayPoint next year to complete their two consecutive year prerequisite faith formation program. Only 3 excused absences are allowed per year.
I have successfully completed the 7th and 8th grade WayPoint program, what’s next?
Lighthouse is our 9th - 12th grade youth movement that all high schoolers are invited to attend. In LightHouse, we invite our teens to continue their faith formation by diving deeper into our faith teachings and relationship with God. In 10th grade, you will register your child for our Confirmation Sacramental Prep program.
What if my teen did not complete the two-year prerequisite in middle school?
If your student has not yet completed two consecutive years of Faith Formation in Middle School, please enroll them in Lighthouse, our high school program to complete their two years. Their consecutive years of faith formation can take place in any of the following ways: (7th and 8th grade WayPoint, 8th grade WayPoint and 9th grade LightHouse, 9th and 10th grade LightHouse, 10th and 11th grade LightHouse, OR 11th and 12th grade LightHouse) Only 3 excused absences are allowed per year.

If my child attends a Private Catholic High School, when do I register for Confirmation?
First, your child must be in attendance at a Private Catholic High School for two consecutive years: 9th and 10th grade, 10th and 11th grade OR 11th and 12th grade.
A letter is required from the private Catholic school confirming that the student is currently enrolled for the second consecutive year in that school. After they have completed or are in their second consecutive year of private Catholic High School, then they are eligible to be registered for our Confirmation Sacramental preparation program in 10th grade or older.
